How to Craft an Anvil in Minecraft
To craft an anvil in Minecraft you need three Blocks of Iron and four iron ingots — 31 ingots if you count the blocks. On the Crafting Table the blocks make the top, then a stem of ingots. Below are the items, the recipe, and how to pack the blocks.

Iron IngotThirty-one ingots
Mine iron with a stone pickaxe or better and smelt it in a furnace. Fill the Crafting Table with nine ingots to make one Block of Iron; do that three times. Keep four loose ingots for the stem. You can unpack a block the same way if you overshot.
How to stack it
Open the table. Put iron blocks across the entire top row. Put one ingot in the center square. Fill the whole bottom row with ingots. The anvil appears on the right; place it on the ground. It is a block, so it needs a solid floor.
Repair and rename
Open the anvil to combine two damaged tools, pay extra ingots or diamonds to repair one piece, or type a new name. Each use damages the anvil until it cracks and then breaks, so a spare craft is worth the iron.
