How to Craft a Bookshelf in Minecraft
To craft a bookshelf in Minecraft you need six wooden planks and three books. On the Crafting Table the planks fill the top and bottom rows and the books sit across the middle. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those pieces come from.

How to craft these materials
Wooden Planks
Oak LogWooden Planks ×4Shapeless: the slots can sit anywhere on the grid.
Six planks and three books
Two oak logs in the inventory 2×2 already cover the six planks; any wood type works, oak is the usual first tree. Each book is three paper and one leather — three books is nine paper and three leather. Craft the books first if you still need them, then convert the logs.
Books across the middle
Open the Crafting Table. Fill the whole top row with planks, put a book in each square of the middle row, then fill the whole bottom row with planks. One bookshelf appears on the right; take it. The 2×2 inventory grid cannot hold this 3×3.
Set it by the table
Place the shelf one air block away from an Enchanting Table; fifteen of them raise the offers toward level 30. If you break the block, three books drop and six planks put the shelf back.
