How to Craft a Bucket in Minecraft

To craft a bucket in Minecraft you need three iron ingots. On the Crafting Table they make a V: two in the top corners and one in the center. Below are the items, the recipe, and where the iron comes from.

Iron Ingot

Three iron ingots

Mine iron ore with a stone pickaxe or better, then smelt three pieces in a furnace. Zombies and iron golems can drop an ingot too. Three bars cover the whole craft — the bucket stacks to sixteen when empty.

A V on the table

Open the Crafting Table. Put an ingot in the top-left square, one in the top-right, and one in the exact center. Leave the rest empty. One bucket appears on the right; take it. The 2×2 inventory grid cannot hold this V.

Scoop water or lava

Use the bucket on a water or lava source to pick it up, then use it again to pour. Aim at a cow, mooshroom or goat for milk. Empty buckets come back when you drink the milk or burn the lava as furnace fuel.
