How to Craft a Firework Rocket in Minecraft
To craft a firework rocket in Minecraft you need one paper and one gunpowder. Drop them in any two squares of the inventory 2×2 and three rockets come out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those pieces come from.

How to craft these materials
Paper and gunpowder
Paper is three sugar cane in a row on a Crafting Table — that craft also dumps three sheets, and you only take one. Gunpowder comes off a creeper: 0–2 per kill. One paper plus one gunpowder is the whole recipe and it pays three rockets.
Any two squares
Open the inventory 2×2 or a Crafting Table. Put the paper in one square and the gunpowder in another; the shape does not matter. Three firework rockets appear on the right; take them. A second or third gunpowder in the same craft stretches the flight duration to two or three.
Launch it or boost with it
Use the rocket on a block to send it straight up. While you are gliding with elytra, use the rocket in the air to boost the way you are looking. Keep paper and gunpowder in the hand for that boost.
