How to Craft a Book and Quill in Minecraft
To craft a book and quill in Minecraft you need one book, one ink sac and one feather. Put those three in any squares of the inventory 2×2 or a Crafting Table, and one book and quill comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those pieces come from.

How to craft these materials
Book, ink, feather
Craft a book from three paper and one leather. Kill a squid in a river or ocean: it drops one to three ink sacs. Chickens drop up to two feathers. That covers the whole craft.
Mix them in the 2×2
Open your inventory or a Crafting Table. Put the book, the ink sac and the feather in any three squares. One book and quill appears on the right; take it. The 2×2 holds the whole recipe.
Write, then sign
Use the book and quill in your hand to open the pages. Type, turn the page, then press Sign when the text is done; it locks under a title. Books and quills do not stack.
