How to Craft Boots in Minecraft

To craft boots in Minecraft you need four leather. On the Crafting Table put leather in the four corners of the top two rows and leave the middle column empty; that gap is the instep. Below are the items, the recipe, and where that leather comes from.

Four leather from cows

Cows in plains and the rest of the Overworld drop leather when they die. Horses, llamas and hoglins drop it too. Four pieces cover one pair. The same leather also fills an eight-slot chestplate if you want the tunic next.

Four corners, empty middle

Open a Crafting Table. Top row: leather, empty, leather. Middle row: leather, empty, leather. Leave the whole bottom row empty. One pair of leather boots appears on the right; take it. The inventory 2×2 cannot hold this 3-wide shape.

On the feet slot

Open the inventory and drop the boots into the feet armor slot, the lowest square on the body. Hits on your legs land on the leather first. The same four-corner shape with iron ingots instead of leather makes the next pair.
