How to Craft Bricks in Minecraft

To craft bricks in Minecraft you need four brick items, and each brick is a clay ball cooked in a furnace. In the inventory 2×2 or on the Crafting Table, put those four in a square. Below are the items, the recipe, and where the clay comes from.

Clay balls from the water

Look for gray clay in shallow rivers, lakes, swamps and lush caves. Break a clay block with a shovel — or by hand — and it drops four clay balls. One clay block is exactly enough for one bricks block once you finish smelting.

Clay in the furnace

Open a furnace. Clay ball in the top slot, fuel underneath — coal, charcoal or a wooden log all work. Each ball comes out as one brick. Four bricks take four smelts; two furnaces side by side cut the wait if you mined a whole bank.

Four bricks in a square

Open the inventory 2×2 or the Crafting Table. Fill all four squares with a brick. One bricks block appears on the right; take it. Place it as a wall. Any pickaxe picks it back up; without a pickaxe the block drops nothing.
