How to Craft a Stonecutter in Minecraft
To craft a stonecutter in Minecraft you need three stone and one iron ingot. On the Crafting Table put the ingot in the top-middle square and lay three stone in the row right under it. Below are the items, the recipe, and how to smelt cobblestone into that stone.

How to craft these materials
Iron Ingot
1 Raw Iron

Mine stone with any pickaxe — it drops cobblestone — then run three pieces through a furnace until they come out as stone. Silk Touch on the pickaxe skips the furnace and drops the stone block itself. One iron ingot is a smelted ore, or a drop from a zombie or an iron golem.
Iron over a row of stone
Open the Crafting Table. Put the ingot in the top-middle square. Fill the whole middle row with stone. Leave the bottom row empty. One stonecutter appears on the right; take it. You can slide the same T down so the stone sits on the bottom row. The 2×2 inventory grid cannot hold this shape.
Cut one block at a time
Place the stonecutter and use it. Drop a stone-type block in the input and pick a result — one full block becomes one stair, or two slabs. Mason houses in villages already have one; an unemployed villager who claims yours becomes a mason. Mine it with any pickaxe to pick it back up.
