How to Craft a Chain in Minecraft
To craft a chain in Minecraft you need two iron nuggets and one iron ingot. On the Crafting Table stack nugget, ingot, nugget in a column, and one chain comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where that iron comes from.

Mine iron ore with a stone pickaxe or better and smelt one ingot. One extra ingot in any crafting grid becomes nine nuggets; take two. That covers one chain.
A column of three
Open the Crafting Table. Iron nugget in the top-middle square, iron ingot in the center, iron nugget in the bottom-middle. One chain appears on the right; take it. The 2×2 inventory cannot hold this height.
Hang a lantern on it
Place the chain on the underside of a solid block, then hang a lantern from the bottom of the chain. Chains also sit sideways. A pickaxe breaks the chain. They stack to sixty-four.
