How to Craft a Carrot on a Stick in Minecraft
To craft a carrot on a stick in Minecraft you need one fishing rod and one carrot. Put the rod in the top-left of the inventory 2×2 and the carrot in the bottom-right, and one carrot on a stick comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those pieces come from.

Fishing Rod

Craft a fishing rod from three sticks and two string, or fish one up. Carrots grow in village farms; break the crop and keep one. Zombies drop carrots as well. One rod and one carrot cover the craft.

Open the inventory 2×2. Put the fishing rod in the top-left square and the carrot in the bottom-right, a short diagonal. One carrot on a stick appears on the right; take it. The same two pieces work on a Crafting Table in those two squares.
Steer a pig
Saddle a pig, then hold the carrot on a stick and the pig walks the way you look. Use it to give a short boost; that wears the stick down. A golden carrot still breeds horses; this craft is for the pig. The rod's enchantments stay on the stick.
