How to Craft a Cartography Table in Minecraft
To craft a cartography table in Minecraft you need two paper and four wooden planks. On the Crafting Table put paper across the top and planks in the two rows under it, and one table comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those pieces come from.

Wooden Planks
Oak LogWooden Planks ×4Shapeless: the slots can sit anywhere on the grid.
Two paper, four planks
Three sugar cane in a row make three paper; keep two. Punch logs and convert them in the inventory 2×2. Four matching planks fill the lower two rows. Oak works if that is the wood you already have.
Paper on top of planks
Open the Crafting Table. Top row: two paper in the left and middle squares, or any two of that row. Middle: two planks. Bottom: two planks. Align the paper over the planks so the four wood sit directly under the two sheets. One cartography table appears on the right; take it.
Zoom, clone, lock
Place it and open it. A map plus paper zooms the map out. A map plus an empty map clones it. A map plus a glass pane locks the drawing. Cartographers in villages already keep one as a job site. An axe breaks the table.
