How to Craft a Composter in Minecraft
To craft a composter in Minecraft you need seven wooden slabs. On the Crafting Table put slabs on both sides of the top two rows and three across the bottom, and one composter comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those slabs come from.

Punch logs into planks, then put three matching planks in a row on the Crafting Table; six slabs come out. This recipe uses seven, so craft a second batch and keep one extra. Oak slabs sit in the same slots as any other wood. The middle of the top two rows stays empty.

Open the Crafting Table. Top: slab, empty, slab. Middle: slab, empty, slab. Bottom: three slabs. One composter appears on the right; take it. The 2×2 inventory cannot hold this U.
Crops in, bone meal out
Place it. Drop seeds, crops, leaves or other plant waste into the open top until the layers fill. When it is full, use it to pull one bone meal. Farmers in villages already keep a barrel and this bin as a job site. An axe breaks the composter.
