How to Craft a Helmet in Minecraft
To craft a leather helmet in Minecraft you need five leather. On the Crafting Table fill the top row, then put leather on both sides of the middle row, and one helmet comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where that leather comes from.

Five leather
Kill cows, horses, or hoglins until five leather drop. A chestplate wants eight; boots want four. Keep five for the head.
Top row, then both sides
Open the Crafting Table. Fill the entire top row with leather. Middle: leather, empty, leather. Leave the bottom row empty. One leather helmet appears on the right; take it. This 3-wide shape cannot fit in the inventory 2×2.
On the head slot
Wear it in the head slot. It takes hits before your health does. Dye it if you want a color. Iron, gold, diamond, and netherite use the same five-piece shape with their own material.
