How to Craft Stairs in Minecraft
To craft stairs in Minecraft you need six wooden planks. On the Crafting Table build a stair of planks down the left side: one, then two, then three, and four oak stairs come out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those planks come from.

Six planks, four stairs
Punch oak logs and convert them in the inventory 2×2. Six matching planks cover one batch. Other woods use the same stair shape with their own planks. That is the whole material list.
Stair down the grid
Open the Crafting Table. Top row: plank, empty, empty. Middle: plank, plank, empty. Bottom: three planks. Four oak stairs appear on the right; take them. The 2×2 inventory cannot hold this 3×3.
Climb, or roof
Place a stair against a block. Walking up the slope costs the same as walking on flat ground. Flip it in the placement to make a roof or an upside-down step. Pair them with a door or a fence on the same wood. An axe breaks stairs.
