How to Craft a Carpet in Minecraft
To craft a carpet in Minecraft you need two matching wool. Put them side by side in the inventory 2×2, and three carpets come out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where that wool comes from.

Two wool of the same color
Shear an adult sheep for one to three wool, or kill one for a single block. Two white wool cover one craft and pay three carpets. Four string also make one white wool if the pasture is empty. Dye the wool first if you want another color on the floor.
Side by side in the 2×2
Open the inventory 2×2. Put wool in the top-left and top-right, a short row. Three carpets appear on the right; take them. The same two wool work on a Crafting Table.
A thin floor, a llama seat
Place it on a block; the layer is one pixel thick so you still walk at full height. Drop a carpet on a llama and it sits as a seat. Three matching wool plus three planks still make a bed, and six wool in two rows make a banner.
