How to Craft a Painting in Minecraft
To craft a painting in Minecraft you need eight sticks and one wool of any color. On the Crafting Table put the wool in the center square and fill the other eight with sticks. Below are the items, the recipe, and where those pieces come from.

Wool

Eight sticks, one wool
Two planks stacked in the inventory 2×2 make four sticks, so two pairs cover the eight you need — one log already turns into those four planks. Shear an adult sheep for one to three wool, or kill one for a single block. White, red or dyed — any color of wool finishes this craft.
Wool in the center
Open the Crafting Table. Drop the wool in the exact middle, then put a stick in every leftover square so they wrap around it. One painting appears on the right; take it. The 2×2 inventory grid is too small for eight sticks around one wool. Paintings stack to sixty-four.
Hang it on a wall
Use the painting on a flat wall. The game looks at how much empty wall sits around that click and hangs a random canvas that fits. If you want a different picture, break it and place it again. Hitting it with your hand is enough to pick it back up.
