How to Craft a Button in Minecraft

To craft a button in Minecraft you need one wooden plank. Drop that plank in any square of the inventory 2×2, and one oak button comes out. Below are the items, the recipe, and where that plank comes from.

How to craft these materials

Wooden Planks

Inventory (2×2)
Oak Log
Wooden Planks ×4

Shapeless: the slots can sit anywhere on the grid.

One plank

Punch a log and convert it in the inventory 2×2: one log is four planks. A single oak plank covers this craft. Other woods make their own buttons with the same shapeless slot. One cobblestone in that square instead makes the stone button.

Any square in the 2×2

Open the inventory. Put one plank in a crafting square by itself. One oak button appears on the right; take it. The same lone plank works on a Crafting Table if that is already open.

A short pulse

Place the button on the side, top or underside of a solid block. Click it to send a short redstone pulse into that block, enough to open a door or fire a dispenser. A lever stays on; this click does not. Punch the button with your hand to pick it back up.
