Cactus on desert sand
Walk a desert or the badlands until a cactus sits on sand. Break it with your hand or any tool; the block drops as an item. The sides hurt if you walk into them, so swing from a block away or break the sand under the plant and the column falls. One cactus is one dye.
Cactus in the furnace
Open a furnace. Cactus in the top slot, fuel underneath. Coal, charcoal, or a wooden log all work. When the arrow fills, one green dye sits on the right; take it. A full stack is sixty-four smelts.
Green wool and a green burst
Drop the dye on white wool and the block turns green. A banner takes the same color. Firework stars also take a dye if you want a green burst in the sky.
